RISILIENCY RESPONSE

Scenario - Based Microlearning

Select “Start” to begin a live interactive scenario.

This project addresses a gap in training: law enforcement officers and dispatchers are expected to manage stress and make decisions in real time but rarely have opportunities to practice these skills in realistic conditions.

I designed an interactive microlearning featuring branching scenario’s that allow learners to practice recognizing stress cues, applying coping strategies, and understanding see their decisions impact outcomes in a safe environment.

Officers and dispatchers work in high stress environments where they are expected to make decisions in the moment, but don’t always have opportunities to practice managing stress in realistic situations.

The Challenge

My Role

Instructional Designer and eLearning Developer responsible for designing the learning experience, developing interactive scenarios, and aligning activities to real-world performance.

The Approach

Designed using Action Mapping to focus on real-world behaviors. The experience uses scenario-based learning, guided reflection, and job aids such as breathing techniques and physical regulation strategies.

Developed in Articulate Storyline for branching scenarios and Articulate Rise to structure and deliver the learning experience.

Key Techniques

  • Scenario-based decision making

  • Stress cue recognition and response

  • Guided breathing and physical regulation techniques

  • Peer support interaction and reflection

Outcome

Improved ability to recognize stress cues, apply coping strategies in real time, and make effective decisions under pressure.

Evaluation is aligned to Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels to measure learner experience, skill development, behavior change, and overall impact.
